One dead father.

One lying mother.

After twelve-year-old Rocky overhears Mom admit that the “Dad’s heart stopped” story is bogus, his trust in his one remaining parent unravels. Then, the For Sale sign appears in the front lawn right after the funeral, and Rocky must abandon so many reminders of Dad.

Consumed by the secret and struggling to adjust to changing schools mid-year, Rocky is startled on day one by a familiar voice. Spooked, he dashes into a restroom stall to hide as the voice of his father insists the only way to learn the truth is to return to his old town.

But isn't a dead person’s advice is useless?

Rocky finds a real partner in a new friend, Olive, who offers to be his sous sleuth and help him crack the secret so he can get his life on track. The pair’s schemes go bust, but embolden Rocky on a journey of risks, eavesdropping and snooping which forces him to rethink who was the father he thought he knew.
